Why This Recipe Is So Enjoyable
Helpful Cooking Tips
- Chill the trifle for at least a few hours to let the flavors meld together.
- Gently fold the cream to keep it light and airy, avoiding overmixing.
Step 1
Place the cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle bowl. In a large measuring cup, dissolve the raspberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water, then stir in 1 cup of cold water. Pour this mixture over the cake cubes and gently press down. Scatter the raspberries evenly on top, then pop the trifle in the fridge to set for about 45 minutes.
Step 2
Whisk together one package of pudding mix with 2 cups of cold milk for a couple of minutes until smooth. Spread this pudding layer over the set raspberries, then chill the trifle again until the pudding firms up, roughly another 45 minutes.
Step 3
Now, dissolve the cherry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir in 1 cup cold water, and pour it over the pudding layer. Spread the cherries evenly over the gelatin and return the trifle to the fridge for about 45 minutes to set.
Step 4
While you wait, mix the remaining pudding package with 2 cups cold milk until smooth. Once the cherry layer is firm, spread this second pudding layer over it and chill again until set, about 45 minutes.
Step 5
For the final gelatin layer, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir in 1 cup cold water, then pour it over the pudding. Arrange the strawberries on top and refrigerate the whole trifle for about an hour until completely set.
Step 6
When you're ready to serve, spread whipped topping over the trifle and garnish with the reserved berries for a festive finish.
