Why This Recipe Is A Must Try
Kitchen Advice
- Pat the cheese dry before coating to help the sesame seeds stick better.
- Fry on medium heat to get a golden crust without melting the cheese inside.
Step 1
Cut the feta into pieces about half an inch thick—squares or rectangles work well. Crack a couple of eggs into a bowl wide enough to dip the feta, then beat them lightly with a fork. Spread some flour out on one plate and sesame seeds on another.
Step 2
Take each piece of feta and give it a good coating of flour, then dip it into the eggs, and finally press it into the sesame seeds, making sure every side is covered.
Step 3
Heat enough olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat so you can shallow fry the feta. When the oil is hot, carefully add the cheese pieces (you might need to do this in batches). Fry them until they turn a nice golden color, about 5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 4
Once fried, let the feta drain briefly on some paper towels to soak up any extra oil. For a delicious touch, drizzle a little honey over the top and serve while it’s still warm.
