Why This Dish Is So Special
Helpful Kitchen Tips
- Don’t overfill the turnovers to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
- Brush the tops with a little egg wash for a golden, shiny finish.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Roll out one pie crust on a clean surface and cut out nine 4-inch circles, using a cutter or a small bowl—save any scraps to roll out again. Do the same with the second pie crust. Core the apples and slice them crosswise into nine rings. In a small bowl, whisk together an egg and a splash of water to make an egg wash.
Step 2
Lay the pastry rounds onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly brush the edges of each round with the egg wash. Place one apple ring and one Oreo cookie on top of each round. Then, cover each with another pastry circle and press the edges together to seal them well. Crush the leftover Oreos finely and sprinkle the crumbs over the turnovers for a little extra crunch.
Step 3
Pop the tray into the oven and bake for about 18 to 22 minutes, until the turnovers are a beautiful golden brown. Let them cool completely, then dust with a little powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy!
