Why This Recipe Is So Flavorful
Cooking Tips You Should Know
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches for even crispiness.
- Use a light spray of oil to help the tots brown nicely without adding extra grease.
Step 1
Boil a pot of salted water over medium-high heat. Once it’s boiling, add the asparagus and cook for about 5 minutes. Drain them and let cool until you can handle them easily, around 5 minutes.

Step 2
In a large bowl, mix the asparagus with the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Use your hands to knead everything together until it forms a dough-like consistency. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into a tot. Keep going until all the mixture is used, then pop the tots into the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up.

Step 3
While the tots are chilling, preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). When ready, spray the air fryer basket with some nonstick spray. Arrange the tots in a single layer in the basket, then give the tops a light spray as well.

Step 4
Cook the tots for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to make sure they crisp up evenly. Once golden and crispy, they’re ready to enjoy!
